6/30: Sport

Ah’ve always considered myself useful by lending a helpful paw when able. Ah count barnacles on sailboats. Ah recruit animals for the French Cat Militia. My paws are helpful!

One day Ah found Mum and Red Beard clinkering and clattering around in the blue autobox called, Sport.

Ah’ve never understood what Sport was for since it has been sitting in the backyard for so long. Ah can’t remember if Sport is supposed to move or if it is just for decoration. But it must be broken because they've been poking around Sport a lot lately. So far, nothing has happened, yet.

Recently, Ah saw a book with a picture of Sport on the table. Wondering if maybe this book would explain what type of decoration Sport was, Ah tried to read what was inside.

But then Ah remembered, Ah don't know how to read. Luckily, this book had pictures. Although they weren't colorful and very confusing, Ah think Ah recognized one of the pictures! Once Ah had the chance to be out of the inside, Ah quickly ran over to Sport to see if Ah was correct.

Ah climbed inside and there it was, the plus-and-minus box! Although, Ah don't understand why this box is inside the soft part of Sport and not in the front, dirty part like the picture showed. But, Ah trust that Mum and Red Beard must know something that Ah don't.

Trying to learn how to read made me tired and since the inside of Sport was so comfy, Ah decided to lay down and rest beside the misplaced box. Before long, Ah was awoken by clanging and clatinkering. They were working on Sport, again!

Ah quickly went to investigate to see if Ah could be helpful. Ah climbed out of Sport and headed topside to found Sissy helping Red Beard, giving him directions on what to fix. Upon spotting me on Sport's roof, Lé Toots started giving me instructions, too. "If you are going to hover, at least be useful." Ah can do that!

Ah didn’t see this in Sport's book, but based on my observational analysis, Ah determined Sport’s roof to be quite dirty and in need of a scrub. So, Ah rolled around on the roof to absorb the dirt into my thick coat.

Soon, they moved the misplaced box to the front, just like the picture said; Ah was right! Once the misplaced box was in its correct spot, Sport began to hum and then move! It wasn't just for decoration, Mum and Red Beard fixed Sport! And Ah helped!

Because Ah lended a paw, Ah got to stay outside all day. Soon the night time started to come and the sky got pretty in pink. It was a guid day working and learning!

Just like Lé Toots says, Teamwork is of big importance. Without it, Sport would still be sitting in its decoration spot. But instead, it has a new decoration spot on the Southern driveway of Crawford Territory.

Ah don't usually get to go to the Southern frontier, so Ah'll miss Sport. But the good news is now there is more room for backyard activities! Ah’m excited for even wider stick circles.
